Mental Health Coach & Therapist

Compassionate Support for Healing, Growth, and Lasting Change

Welcome. I'm Theresa Babbs-Durrant, an integrative counsellor and BACP registered therapist specialising in trauma, complex trauma, and developmental trauma. Based in South Lakes, Cumbria, I offer in-person, Walk-and-Talk and online therapy for adults seeking to heal from past wounds, navigate life's challenges, and reclaim their sense of self.

Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or the lingering effects of childhood experiences, you deserve a safe space to explore, process, and grow. I'm here to walk alongside you on your healing journey.

I work with adults who are:

You Don't Have to Navigate This Alone

  • Struggling with Trauma - whether from childhood, relationships, or life events
  • Feeling stuck in patterns of anxiety, depression, or overwhelm
  • Experiencing relationship difficulties - struggling to trust, communicate, or connect
  • Seeking to understand themselves better - exploring attachment styles, inner child wounds, or somatic responses
  • Ready for change but unsure where to start
  • Looking for deeper healing beyond symptom management

If you've tried therapy before and didn't feel heard, or if this is your first time reaching out, I offer a trauma-informed, person-centred approach that honours your unique story and pace.

My approach:

Integrative, Trauma-Informed Counselling Tailored to You

As an MBACP integrative counsellor trained in CBT, Transactional Analysis, Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt, inner child work, somatic therapy, and attachment-based approaches, I draw from multiple therapeutic modalities to create a personalised support plan just for you.

My specialist focus includes:

  • Complex trauma and developmental trauma
  • Attachment wounds and relationship patterns
  • Somatic experiencing and body-based healing
  • Inner child work and re-parenting
  • Anxiety, depression, and chronic stress
  • Grief, loss, and life transitions

Therapy isn't one-size-fits-all. Together, we'll find what works best for you, honouring both your mind and body in the healing process.

Why choose trauma-informed therapy?

Healing Happens in Safety

Traditional therapy approaches can sometimes feel too fast, too confronting, or miss the deeper roots of your struggles. Trauma-informed therapy recognises that:

  • Your nervous system needs to feel safe before healing can happen
  • Past experiences shape current patterns and reactions
  • Healing isn't linear - it's a journey with ups and downs
  • Your body holds wisdom and memories that talk-therapy alone may not reach
  • You are the expert on your own experience

I create a confidential, non-judgmental space where you can explore at your own pace, with compassion and without pressure.
